Servas Germany would like to invite you to a region which is still regarded as an insider tip. The Ruhr region located in the west of Germany in North Rhine-Westphalia, is about 60 km north-east of Cologne. This used to be a steel and coal mining area but today you’ll find inviting parks, gardens and recreational areas where people love to go for walks or cycling. Former industrial sites are now venues for art and culture, sport and entertainment.
One example is the Zeche Zollern Colliery in the west of Dortmund which ranks among the most beautiful testaments to Germany’s industrial past. Together we’ll explore the former colliery and we’ll also go on a historical walking tour of Dortmund.
Servas members from the Ruhr region will be your hosts. If you’d like to extend your stay, either before or after the meeting, we’ll be happy to arrange it.

Friday
- Arrival at your hosts’ home
Saturday
- 10 a.m.: Welcome at the Pferdestall restaurant at Zollern Colliery where we’ll have breakfast together.
- This will be followed by a guided tour of the colliery (German/English).
- Afterwards you’ll have the opportunity to either explore more of the colliery or visit the Football Museum, the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument/Hohensyburg or Westfalenpark together with your hosts.

Sunday
- a.m.: Historical walking tour of Dortmund (German, English), followed by a farewell lunch together (à la carte)

As we would like to welcome as many guests as possible, within the registration period, priority will be given to the first registrations from each country (individuals or couples).

Charges
110 Euro/per person, incl. breakfast, evening meal and guided tours.
The farewell lunch on Sunday (à la carte) is not included.
